Armenian-American entrepreneur Armen Orujyan congratulated Ruben on his birthday

Armen Orujyan, an architect of innovation ecosystems and co-founder (along with Ruben Vardanyan) of the FAST Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology, congratulated his friend and colleague on his birthday. Here is the text of the message in full.

“Dear Ruben,

Happy 57th birthday, my friend.

Today, more than ever, your absence is deeply felt—not just by me, but by countless others whose lives you’ve touched so profoundly. It’s strange to think of celebrating without you here, laughing, sharing stories, and imagining better futures together. Yet, even in this difficult moment, your presence is everywhere—in the courage you’ve inspired, the hope you’ve nurtured, and the strength you’ve ignited in all of us.

I am writing to you for the first time as not part of your professional universe. I’ve recently moved on from the FAST Foundation, a journey we embarked upon together—one that I’ll forever cherish, as being part of that incredible ride was a privilege bestowed because of your vision and trust. Although my chapter with FAST has concluded, it is not an end but a building block from which new, profound chapters will undoubtedly unfold. I eagerly look forward to the day when you are free again, so we can revisit our dreams, crafting initiatives that are deeply meaningful and immensely impactful.

I miss our conversations, your wisdom, and your infectious optimism. I miss your laughter, which always filled the room with warmth. Armenia misses you, Ruben—your vision, your compassion, and your tireless determination. Your absence has reminded us just how much you’ve shaped our dreams for a better tomorrow.

On this birthday, know that we hold you close in our thoughts and hearts. I envision the day we’ll once again gather around a table, surrounded by our families and friends, sharing memories, making new ones, and celebrating freedom together.
