CNN: Baku’s rhetoric becomes radical — Armenia is officially called “Western Azerbaijan”

Anna Ohanyan, Senior Researcher at the Carnegie Russia and Eurasia Program (Carnegie Endowment for International Peace), believes that Azerbaijan’s goals have become radical after the invasion of Artsakh.

“Its [Azerbaijan’s] goals have not changed: it still needs confrontation or conflict with Armenia, even after regaining full control over Nagorno-Karabakh,” Ohanyan told CNN.

The media outlet’s journalists also spoke with the eldest son of social entrepreneur Ruben Vardanyan, who has been illegally arrested by Azerbaijan.

“If we really want peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, we cannot allow political prisoners to remain in captivity,” David Vardanyan said.
