Dele Olojede: “Ruben tried to put society before his own interests”
If the USA, the EU and African countries demand that Azerbaijan release Ruben Vardanyan and other Armenians, Baku will be forced to surrender. This opinion was expressed by Dele Olojede, Nigerian-American journalist, writer and publisher, who has got the Pulitzer Prize for covering consequences of the Rwanda genocide in 2005.
Olojede is closely acquainted with Ruben Vardanyan and considers his arrest a terrible injustice. “We should honor this person, and not keep him somewhere in Baku,” – he put emphasis in an interview with Armenian colleagues.
According to Olojede, the Azerbaijani government is responding to pressure from the world community. Therefore, provided that all conscious countries support Ruben, there will be progress in his case.
“Let Ruben go. Let him go back to his family. He does no harm to anyone, he only tries to invest in the prosperity of mankind and the protection of people at risk,” – concluded the Pulitzer Prize winner.
