Famous physician and humanitarian Tom Catena has released a video message in support of Ruben

Tom Catena, chief physician at Sudan’s Mother of Mercy Hospital and winner of the Aurora Humanitarian Award, has called on the international community to demand the release of Ruben and other Armenian prisoners.

“With this short video I express my support for my friend Ruben Vardanyan, who has been unjustly held in an Azerbaijani prison for over a year now. I have known Ruben since 2017, when he was awarded the international Aurora Humanitarian Award for his work in Sudan that year,” said Catena.

He spoke about his acquaintance with the philanthropist and emphasized that the charges against him have no grounds.

«“Being also the chair of the Aurora Humanitarian Award initiative, I have managed to get to know Ruben quite well over the years. We traveled together quite often for the purpose of other projects. I know Ruben as an exceptionally fair, exceptionally honest person. And anyone who knows Ruben knows that all those accusations that he is facing are absolutely false and ridiculous. Ruben went to Artsakh to help the government and the population, even very well aware of all the risks involved in going there, and despite this, he decided to go. I call on the international community, I call on all people of goodwill to demand the release of both Ruben and all Armenian prisoners who are unjustly held in an Azerbaijani prison,” Catena said.
