Los Angeles demands that Washington secure release of Armenian hostages

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously supported a petition to the Biden administration to facilitate the release of Ruben Vardanyan and other Armenians illegally detained by Azerbaijan. Its members called on White House leaders to impose sanctions on the Azerbaijani authorities, as well as to stop any assistance to Baku.

“As leaders of a country that is home to the greatest number of Armenians outside of Armenia itself, we must do what is within our power. We must use our voice to condemn Azerbaijan’s violations of human rights and urge the return of all Armenian hostages and prisoners of war,” said Kathryn Barger, co-author of the initiative.
