Mary Robinson: “I hope that Azerbaijan will release Ruben Vardanyan and other Armenian political prisoners and captives”

Former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson sent a video greeting to participants of a youth conference on climate justice held at the UWC International School in Dilijan.

In her message, the former chief human rights advocate of the world organization reminded about the fate of Ruben Vardanyan: one of the founders of the college has been illegally held by Baku for more than a year.

“I hope that Azerbaijan, which is hosting this year’s COP29 conference, will demonstrate that it has at least some awareness of the need for peace in the region and will release Ruben Vardanyan and other Armenian political prisoners and captives,” said Mary Robinson.
