UWC International Council President: “There are people who go through the fire of life, come out of it and bring further changes with them”
Musimbi Kanyoro, President of the International Council of United World Colleges, spoke at the celebration in honor of the 10th anniversary of UWC Dilijan College, which was founded by Ruben Vardanyan and his partners. She spoke about main values of the UWC network – pursuit of excellence in education and education for peace. Putting them into practice is helped by internal cohesion and working together for a common goal where many people take part.
Musimbi Kanyoro has recalled one of her predecessors as president of the organization, it was Nelson Mandela, the first black leader of the South Africa and the famous human rights activist. Comparing Mandela’s fate and Ruben’s life path, she predicted that, like Mandela, Ruben would emerge victorious from all trials.
“Remembering Ruben, one of our founders, I remember the fate of Nelson Mandela and say that there are people who go through the fire of life. With God’s help, they come out of this fire and bring further changes with them. I saw it myself”, said Musimbi Kanyoro.
